Juniors Learn to Row

The HCR Junior's Learn-to-Row program is the ideal introduction for athletes interested in joining one of the region’s fastest-growing and most competitive junior rowing teams. Following a highly successful season with strong performances at regional competitions, our program is excited to welcome the next generation of rowers.

Designed for beginners, this camp provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where athletes can experience the fundamentals of rowing while getting a feel for the team’s culture, expectations, and commitment level. Participants will work alongside experienced coaches and current team members, building confidence both on and off the water.

Safety is our top priority. All activities follow established rowing safety standards, including a structured introduction to equipment, water safety protocols, and proper technique progression before on-water training begins.

Camp activities include:

  • Safety orientation and equipment overview

  • Boat terminology and rowing fundamentals

  • On-land (erg and technical) training

  • On-water rowing experience

Enrollment is limited to 25 participants to ensure a high-quality experience for each participant.

Team Culture

Many athletes are drawn to rowing for its competitive nature, and our program embraces that energy in a positive, team-first environment. As our junior program continues to grow and achieve success, we emphasize habits that support both individual development and team performance:

  • Consistent commitment to training

  • Daily effort and accountability

  • Punctuality and attendance

  • Respect for teammates, coaches, and equipment

  • Openness to coaching and constructive feedback

  • Resilience through challenges and competition

  • Celebrating team and individual successes

Our goal is to develop not only strong athletes, but confident, disciplined, and supportive young adults.
